De Overwinning is a historic racing tjalk from 1914, known as one of the fastest tjalks in the Netherlands. After an extensive sustainability upgrade, the vessel was converted into a fully emission-free charter ship, while preserving its authentic character and sailing performance.
For this project, Green Marine supplied a complete electric propulsion system consisting of a 40 kW electric motor, an 84 kWh lithium battery pack and an integrated energy system for both propulsion and onboard facilities. Thanks to the immediate availability of electric torque, the vessel manoeuvres smoothly and quietly in harbours and on inland waterways, while still providing sufficient power for reliable operation under a wide range of conditions.
In addition to the propulsion system, the heating, cooking facilities and hotel operations on board were also electrified. As a result, De Overwinning can operate completely fossil-free, allowing guests to experience the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea without emissions, noise pollution or diesel smell.
With this transformation, De Overwinning demonstrates how historic vessels can be successfully prepared for a sustainable future.
