That said, here’s a rough rule of thumb to get you started:

Estimated cost = 1.5 × boat length (in meters) × €1,000 For example, a typical 8-meter sloop might cost around €12,000 (8 × 1.5 × 1,000).

⚠️ Please don’t take this as a fixed price. Boats used in calm city canals at low speed may require much smaller systems, while offshore or high-usage vessels may need more power and range.

Electric propulsion systems have very low maintenance compared to combustion engines:

• No oil changes, spark plugs, or fuel filters

• Fewer moving parts = less wear and tear

• Diagnostics are usually digital and straightforward

You’ll still want to check the system occasionally (like cooling or battery health), but overall, the experience is cleaner, quieter, and simpler. Many of our customers say it’s one of the biggest perks of going electric!

In short, as long as you want. We always design a system around your actual usage — whether that’s city cruising, day trips, or longer stretches. Let us know your routine, and we’ll include expected range in your proposal. The boating time depends on your battery size, motor power, and how you use your boat. You could add a range-extender, like a generator or solar panels, for even longer boating times. And for sailing boats we offer the possibility of regeneration during sailing to charge back the battery.

As a general idea:

• We design the system so you can use the boat at cruising speed for 6-8 hours, which is for most boats more than enough for a full day of boating.

• A larger vessel or faster cruising speed will reduce range.

• Adding more battery capacity = longer trips, but also more weight and cost.

There are multiple ways to charge, depending on what’s convenient for you:

• Standard shore power (230V or 110V) - you can charge at almost any shore power connection that are available en route.

• Generator backup - you can use a generator as a range-extender or just as a backup to sooth range-anxiety.

• Fast chargers - available at some marinas or custom-installed (needs a different charger as well)

• Solar panels and/or wind turbine - great for hybrid setups or off-grid use.

• Regeneration - available for some sailing boats where the movement of the propeller during sailing will charge the battery.

Most customers use shore power to charge the boat overnight. We’ll recommend the right charging solution based on your boat’s location and your cruising habits.
